About Me

Getting Your Car Towed Hello! My name is Terry and I would like to provide you with some information and advice about how to get your car towed. When your car is in good working order, you may not often think about getting your car towed. However, if your car breaks down, you will need to call out a towing service who will be able to recover the vehicle. When my car broke down on the road out of Perth, I called a local tow service and they came out and rescued me. I was so pleased to be rescued, I decided to start this blog.

Cars typically break down at the most inconvenient times. Whether it's a brand-new or old model, you can never predict when you'll be stuck on the road. Therefore, the best approach is to be prepared in case a breakdown happens. But as much as you may be prepared, is your friend/family member equally prepared?

There might come a time when you receive a phone call from a distressed friend, saying that he/she is stranded on the side of the road. If this happens, you need to act quickly. Knowing what to do will help you plan a timely response and get help for your friend during the process.

1. Find out exactly where they are

Your first objective should be to find out where your friend actually is. If they've called you personally, ask them to share their location details with you. This can be done through GPS technology on their phone or by simply explaining where they are. It helps to know where the person is so you can direct a towing service or go there yourself.

2. Call a towing company

Speaking of towing, your next step should be to contact a towing service. In case your stranded friend is unable to do so, call a towing service and share with them where your friend is located.

You should also have an idea of what happened to your friend's vehicle so that the towing service can prepare an appropriate response. For example, a blown tire may require a different response than a collision accident.

3. Help them remain calm

If this is the first time your friend is having their vehicle break down, they may feel nervous and panic-stricken. You should help your friend remain as calm as possible by reassuring them that help is on the way.

Tell them to take a deep breath and stay at a safe distance from the side of the road. If you sound calm and confident, your friend will also feel supported and less likely to panic.

4. Plan to pick them up

In some cases, you may need to pick your friend up from the scene of the breakdown. As you plan to leave, reassure your friend that you're on the way. Also, provide regular updates about your progress and keep in constant communication with the tow truck dispatcher. Also, make sure you dress appropriately before leaving. Wear closed-toe shoes, carry a jacket if it's cold and make sure your phone is adequately charged. Find towing services before you or your friends need it is a good idea so that you can reassure your friend that the service is a good one.
