About Me

Getting Your Car Towed Hello! My name is Terry and I would like to provide you with some information and advice about how to get your car towed. When your car is in good working order, you may not often think about getting your car towed. However, if your car breaks down, you will need to call out a towing service who will be able to recover the vehicle. When my car broke down on the road out of Perth, I called a local tow service and they came out and rescued me. I was so pleased to be rescued, I decided to start this blog.

If you've parked in the wrong place, you might face having your car towed away to an impound yard. As this is a rather severe punishment for such an act, it might be good for you to know how to avoid it, as it can cause you a lot of unnecessary hassle. Laws are not the same in every state, but there are some areas that you should stay clear of just in case, as many places use the same rules for when your car can be towed away.

Areas where you shouldn't park

Clear-away tow zones are the first types of places where you don't want to park your car. These zones are usually distinctly marked with signs and should be easy to see. Depending on where you are, there are other places that will cause your car being towed away. Many big cities have quite strict parking restrictions, so there are a few places you should avoid parking in, even if you're not sure if it's legal or not. Access ways are one of those areas where your car might be towed away if it's found there. If your vehicle is blocking the road and thereby prohibiting access for other vehicles to pass through, your car might be towed.

Abandoned or unregistered vehicles

Abandoned vehicles are also at risk of getting towed away. Different rules apply, but in Melbourne, for example, a car is considered to be abandoned if it's on the street and hasn't moved for more than two months. If you're the owner of an abandoned vehicle, you should inform the authorities about this so that you don't have to pay to get the impounded vehicle back. Unregistered vehicles parked in the street can also be subjects for being towed. If you are the owner of an unregistered vehicle, make sure to park it on your own property to avoid getting it towed away by a towing service.

Impound storage yard

If your car has been towed away, it's transported to an impound storage yard. There might be different fees and procedures in different areas, but if you get a notice that your car has been towed, you should call the impound yard before going there to find out about the details. They may require that you bring different documents or means of identification. They also need some time to bring your car out of the storage area, so if you just go there straight away, you might have to wait for a long time at the impound yard for them to bring your car out.
